Background of the Study
Early childhood education is recognized not only for fostering child development but also for shaping parental attitudes and career awareness. In Garki Local Government Area, Kaduna State, educational institutions have begun integrating programs that actively involve parents in the learning process, thus broadening their exposure to career possibilities. Such initiatives include parent–teacher workshops, career guidance sessions, and community events that provide insights into modern career trends (Ibrahim, 2023). These efforts enable parents to gain updated knowledge about various professional opportunities, encouraging them to rethink traditional career paths. The infusion of career-oriented content into early childhood settings has proven effective in enhancing parental career awareness, which, in turn, positively influences family socio-economic development. Recent studies suggest that increased parental involvement in educational activities correlates with improved career decision-making and better job prospects (Suleiman, 2024). In addition, the social interactions fostered by these school programs create a dynamic exchange of ideas, further enriching parents’ understanding of the contemporary job market. Garki’s educational environment is evolving as more schools adopt policies that emphasize dual benefits: enhancing children’s learning outcomes while simultaneously informing parents about potential career opportunities. This integrated approach not only strengthens family bonds but also stimulates community-wide economic advancement. Furthermore, the continuous professional development of educators in these institutions helps ensure that career awareness is communicated effectively, reflecting the broader socio-economic needs of the region (Olawale, 2025). By weaving career awareness into the fabric of early education, schools in Garki are redefining the role of education in community development. This study, therefore, aims to explore the extent to which early childhood education influences parental career awareness in Garki, providing a basis for future policies that further enhance this dual-focus educational model.

Statement of the Problem
Despite initiatives designed to increase parental engagement, many parents in Garki Local Government Area remain inadequately informed about modern career opportunities. This gap stems from a limited integration of career guidance within early childhood education programs, leading to a disconnection between educational activities and parental career planning (Ibrahim, 2023). The absence of structured programs that specifically address career awareness results in parents relying on traditional views, thereby limiting their ability to explore diversified career paths. Financial constraints, cultural expectations, and a lack of professional development for educators further compound this issue. As a result, there is a noticeable disparity between the career prospects communicated at school and those understood by parents. This situation undermines the potential benefits of increased parental involvement in children’s education and restricts the overall socio-economic development of the community. The disjoint between policy implementation and practical outcomes has left a critical gap in understanding how early childhood education can be leveraged to enhance parental career awareness. This study seeks to bridge that gap by examining current practices, identifying challenges, and proposing improvements that align educational interventions with parental needs. Failure to address these issues may perpetuate outdated career perspectives among parents, ultimately affecting the quality of guidance provided to their children and limiting economic growth.

Objectives of the Study:

  1. To investigate the influence of early childhood education on enhancing parental career awareness in Garki.
  2. To evaluate the effectiveness of school-based career guidance programs.
  3. To recommend strategies for integrating career awareness into early childhood education.

Research Questions:

  1. How does early childhood education impact parental career awareness in Garki?
  2. What role do career guidance programs play in enhancing parental understanding of modern career opportunities?
  3. What challenges hinder the effective promotion of parental career awareness?

Research Hypotheses:

  1. H1: Early childhood education significantly enhances parental career awareness in Garki.
  2. H2: Active parental engagement in school activities is positively correlated with increased career awareness.
  3. H3: Effective career guidance programs lead to better-informed career decisions among parents.

Significance of the Study
This study is significant as it explores the critical link between early childhood education and parental career awareness in Garki. The findings are expected to influence policy reforms and improve parental engagement by highlighting effective strategies for integrating career guidance into early education. Ultimately, the research contributes to socio-economic development by equipping parents with better career knowledge, thereby fostering improved family support systems (Ibrahim, 2023; Suleiman, 2024).

Scope and Limitations of the Study:
This study is limited to investigating the influence of early childhood education on parental career awareness in Garki Local Government Area, Kaduna State. It does not extend to other regions or consider factors beyond the school-based career guidance framework. Variations in program implementation may affect outcomes.

Definitions of Terms:
• Early Childhood Education: Programs for young children designed to promote holistic development.
• Parental Career Awareness: The degree to which parents are informed about diverse career opportunities.
• Garki Local Government Area: An administrative region in Kaduna State with its unique socio-cultural dynamics.
